Plants on Plants on Plants

It's no secret that we're both plant obsessed. But really, what better way to decorate an apartment than with cheap, colorful plants?! We've definitely killed our fair share of plants over the years (RIP). In Bloomington, our go-to was Mays Greenhouse. Mays never failed to have the absolute cheapest prices and widest selection. You could get a huge banana leaf tree for $20, unreal! Now we live in LA and a bottle of juice is $10, so finding cheap plants is difficult to say the least.

But I think we have found our favorite in Hollywood - Mickey Hargitay Plants. It's like a serene jungle escape from the busy streets of LA (which is much needed for us). And the guys working are so sweet and helpful. Only a couple plants made it out here with us so we can't wait to build our plant collection in LA!

Plants we've had good luck with:

Snake Plant: If you're a plant killer, this ones for you. Snake plants never die. They hardly need sunlight and only a little bit of water every week or so.  Easy as pie!

Cactus: We also love cacti as home decor because they look so stinking cute in pots! They need lots of sun! And only need water when they are super dry. As long as you don't water cacti too much, they should be around for a awhile. :)

Succulents: These are typically the easiest and cheapest to find! We love putting these in cute, little pots. They need a good amount of sunlight, mostly indirect. They may "burn" if in direct sunlight for too long. Succulents require a good amount of water whenever they feel dry.

Aloe Plants: Aloe's have a lot of different varieties. We have this kind right now and it has been doing great!! It just needs to be in a sunny spot and given a big drink of water whenever it feels dry.
