M+L Take LA
OMG! Where do we even start with this post?! Ok, so we have been dying to go to LA together ever since Martha's summer road trip. We were looking for inexpensive plane tickets & finally pulled the trigger. Right after, we looked at each other and questioned if it was an impulse buy. LOL. Well, it definitely wasn't and was such an amazing senior spring break! Check out the (amateur) video we made of our trip + our LA travel guide.
The Broad - This museum is beyond cool and it's free! We loved all the modern art (our fave).
Ocho Mexican Grill - This place kicks Chipotle's buttt! It was super fresh and tasty. They even have wild caught tuna! It was the perfect inexpensive meal & right next to The Broad!
'Break Bread' Exhibit at Think Tank Gallery - A whimsical Marie Antoinette cake maze... if Marie Antoinette was a gangster with a frosting covered machine gun. #GirlPower.
The Bungalow - a.k.a. The Bung (LOL). Probably the coolest bar we've ever been to! It's like a surfer's boho beach house with a party patio.
800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza - Chipotle but for pizza! Fresh & gourmet ingredients for the pizza of your (in our case, drunken) dreams.
Wasteland - There are 3 of these in the LA area. They are a mix of newer "re-sale" & vintage items. You'll find the most bad ass stuff for half the price.
Abbot Kinney - We ♡ this area! It's full of eclectic shops, cafes, art galleries and more. We spent half the day here stopping in almost every store and then headed to Venice Beach.
The Piece Collective - Such a beautifully decorated boutique! The Piece Collective had a perfectly curated collection of products, in line with the modern, bohemian lifestyle. Can we move in?
The Butcher's Daughter - Loved this place! Dreamy indigo shibori, macrame art and green plants. We stopped in for a mid-day snack & got the deviled eggs with kombucha on draft.
Venice Beach Skatepark - A ramp tramp's dream come true... i.e. our dream come true. Major throwback to high school. We were obsessing over a little boy shredding the bowl. Check him out in our video!
Ollo - A great place for Sunday brunch! We ate here before heading to beach. We recommend the acai bowl & eggs benedict.
Point Dume State Beach - All the beaches in Malibu looked amazing, we just happened upon this one. It was pretty low-key and quiet, which is always a plus.
Malibu Hindu Temple - After seeing this beautiful site on Devin Brugman's Instagram, we had to check it out. It was in the rolling hills of Malibu (we were kind of scared driving coming from flat AF Indiana). It was so beautiful & peaceful.
The Pink Wall - Do it for the gram! But really. Paul Smith's store on Melrose is an iconic Instagram spot. So, you're pretty much required to take a few pics. Be prepared to get in line! Everyone else is snapping selfies too.
Gracias Madre - A vegan Mexican restaurant & SO GOOD. We ended up eating at happy hour & ordered the nachos & margaritas, which ended up under $15 including tip. "Gotta love a happy hour special" - 2 broke college girls.
Alfred's Coffee - "But first, coffee." Alfred's is an LA classic and supposedly buzzing with celebs. We hit the one in Brentwood and on Melrose. The coffee is damn good, but the interior is even better.
Joan's on Third - An adorable gourmet marketplace. We sat outside & enjoyed our lunch with a side of people watching.
